Windy City Tourist

Welcome to Chicago, the vibrant metropolis nestled along the shores of Lake Michigan and renowned for its stunning architecture, world-class museums, and iconic skyline. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, Chicago offers a wealth of experiences and attractions to explore. From cultural landmarks to culinary delights, here’s your ultimate guide to discovering the best of the Windy City:

Try some Deep Dish Pizza :

I had a chance to try one of Chicagos well known dishes the Famous Chicago Deep Dish Pizza 🍕.

I used Yelp and google to look up some pizza places near me in Chicago. I finally found a place called ——- . It was a nice little restaurant with outside seating. I was seated at a table and given a menu. The pizza is made fresh so it takes quite a while to receive your dish.

– Chicago-Style Deep Dish Pizza: Indulge in a slice of Chicago-style deep dish pizza, a beloved local delicacy known for its thick crust, generous layers of cheese and toppings, and hearty tomato sauce. Try iconic pizzerias like Lou Malnati’s, Giordano’s, or Pequod’s for an authentic taste of this Windy City classic.

Getting Around:

* I personally walked EVERYWHERE I went or if I had to much to carry while I was traveling to and from train stations then I would take a Lyft or an Uber ride as a last resort because you will get tired of carrying your luggage around especially if check in and check out time at your hotel or hostel are at awkward times.

They also have trains that ride over the city above traffic I was really amazed to see that. In my home town Baltimore most trains either ride on the ground or underground. The downside of traveling underground is that there is NO cell service so the fact that the Chicago trains is set up this way is very helpful.

Now back to walking 🚶🏾‍♀️ the streets are incredibly long so make sure to bring your walking shoes and your gps it’s so easy to go the wrong way and you do not want to have to turn around on those LONG streets!

Visit The Chicago Bean:

I went to explore the city with a woman I met at the hostel I stayed at. In the morning we woke up bright and early and trekked across Chicago in search of a famous Landmark I had never heard of before that day 😱 “ The Bean” 🫘 . I was in shocked to see so many people flooding the area to take pictures with this HUGE metallic shaped bean. The place went was empty to packed in just moments as people swarmed to take pictures and my hostel roommate was a photographer so we had to wait quite a while to get a clear view shot of “ The Chicago Bean” then we got some photos of me.

-The Magnificent Mile: Stroll along the Magnificent Mile, Chicago’s premier shopping and dining destination, lined with upscale boutiques, department stores, and iconic landmarks like the Wrigley Building and the John Hancock Center.
Millennium Park: Explore Millennium Park, a bustling urban oasis in the heart of downtown Chicago. Marvel at the iconic Cloud Gate sculpture, affectionately known as “The Bean,” and cool off in the Crown Fountain during the summer months.
Navy Pier: Experience the excitement of Navy Pier, a beloved Chicago landmark featuring attractions, restaurants, and entertainment options for visitors of all ages. Ride the iconic Ferris wheel, catch a show at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, or simply enjoy stunning views of Lake Michigan.

Cultural Experiences:

-Art Institute of Chicago: Immerse yourself in world-class art at the Art Institute of Chicago, home to a vast collection of masterpieces spanning centuries and continents. From iconic works by Picasso and Van Gogh to ancient artifacts and contemporary installations, the museum offers something for art lovers of all tastes.
-Museum Campus: Explore Chicago’s Museum Campus, a sprawling complex located along the lakefront that is home to several top-tier cultural institutions, including the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, and the Adler Planetarium. Where To Stay At In Chicago

Freehand

I found out the sleek hostel by using the Hostelworld app i downloaded. I thought it was great place to stay and i ended up staying twice on each of my layovers while traveling.

I stayed in a dorm room with other travelers, as well as in a private room.

The dorm room i was in had four bunk beds, a privacy curtain, outlets in the bunks, and lockers to store your personal items in the room so make sure to bring a lock with you as well.

The bathroom were nice, very clean. They also had a laundry room make sure to bring change and laundry detergent. They do have activities such as hostel events, a lounge area that has a bar. They even have a small cafe in the lobby
